BGES is delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for a prestigious Energy Award at The Energy Awards 2016.
“The category we entered was ‘Energy data collection and analysis,” explains Gareth Barber, Managing Director, BGES. “This award reflects excellence in monitoring and targeting, metering and measuring energy use – an essential and the first part of any energy management programme,”
Barber reveals. “We were required to show that our technology yields savings that would otherwise not have been achieved. If we win the overall award, it will be because there’s potential for roll-out throughout the country in terms of UK energy savings. “Of course, we would argue this is already a proven case!”
BGES and Vue Cinemas
BGES put forward its work with Vue as an exemplar of an energy saving success story. BGES’ monitoring and targeting solution has saved Vue Cinemas 61% on energy at 70 UK and Ireland cinemas. “Our bespoke automated system links heating and ventilation with actual auditorium occupancy levels: a first in the cinema sector,” says Barber.
“BGES wrote a custom software programme which links real-time movie screening and ticket sales data with the Building Management System (BMS) software. The result is that heating and ventilation works perfectly in relation to occupancy levels.” Return on investment is on average 18 months, with some sites achieving ROI in 3 months.
Further, conditions are fully optimised for customer wellbeing. For Vue site managers, BGES created a user friendly front-end, so that real time information is clear and anomalies and energy wastage are identified quickly. For reporting purposes, graphical reports are readily available. And, Vue is achieving very significant savings on maintenance; each site is remotely supervised by BGES specialist engineers.
“With proactive supervision, expert hotline advice and technical expertise, issues are rectified early, avoiding the need for costly engineer call outs and onsite disruption. Plant also runs for less hours, which prolongs its life,” explains Barber.
The award winners will be announced at a ceremony at on 30thNovember at Hilton Park Lane in London. “We will be delighted to congratulate all the winners at the event,” says Barber. “But we genuinely hope we are among them. We are ready and keen to deliver energy savings across the UK today, and we welcome the added publicity and boost the awards are already providing.”
