A recent Confederation of British Industry (CBI) report has revealed that the UK manufacturing sector has expanded at its fastest rate since 1995.
CBI’s monthly manufacturing update showed that 36% of the 345 firms polled reported that their order books were fuller than normal in November, compared to 25% saying they were emptier. This resulting balance of +11% was the strongest since March 1995.
Output volumes over the three months to November also rose at their fastest rate since January 1995. BG Energy Solutions, a building controls specialist that delivers energy efficient turn-key solutions, welcomes this news and hopes to also see an increase of low-carbon manufacturing in the UK.
Duncan Biggins, Managing Director of the boiler controls expert, BG Energy Solutions, says: “These are encouraging signs that the manufacturing sector is recovering from the prolonged recession. There are, however, opportunities for further advances.”
He adds: “We expect to see a significant increase in demand for low-carbon products as more businesses recognise the cost-saving and environmental benefits of energy-efficient technologies. This will open up new avenues of growth for our manufacturing sector.”
