BGES Group’s Lewis Locke elected on to BCIA Management Committee

We’re delighted to announce that BGES Group’s Regional Director Lewis Locke has been appointed as a Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) Management Committee member. During his three-year term, Lewis and the rest of the Committee will be helping to set the strategic direction for the Association, to deliver a positive impact for members and the sector as a whole.

Lewis’s career began as a Marine Engineering Mechanic in the Royal Navy. Upon re-entering the civilian workforce, he retrained as an electrical engineer, and has enjoyed a varied career within the commercial BMS and facilities management sectors. Lewis is a natural leader and communicator, joining BGES Group’s senior management team in 2019, where he has led the creation and growth of BGES’s London & South division.

Inspired by his forces background, Lewis is keen to use his new BCIA role to improve the veteran pathway into the building controls industry.

Lewis said: “I firmly believe there is a great opportunity to give something back to those who serve, while also bringing some great people into our industry. Service leavers could double our current apprentice numbers, which could address the engineering skills shortage in the sector. In my new BCIA Management Committee role I’m excited to be exploring this opportunity and helping to advocate for the industry I love. I’d also like to say congratulations to my fellow new Committee members and the BCIA’s new Vice-President – I look forward to collaborating with you in 2024.”

Commenting on the new cohort of Management Committee members, BCIA President Graeme Rees said, “Their diverse backgrounds are a tremendous advert for the many routes into the industry and I look forward to working with them as we continue to work towards our goals outlined in the Corporate Plan.”
